The Nolen Gur-er Festival at Salt Lake City Centre took place for three consecutives days from 15th to 17th January, 2021. The most famous of the Bengal’s sweet shops were all together under one umbrella presenting their creative and mouth-watering sweets, maintaining the covid-19 safety measures.
They served the most delectable and tempting sweets which made the weekend a perfect one for all the sweet lovers in the city. Around 18 sweet shops came and among them, Banchharam, Nalin Chandra Das & Sons, Felu Modak, K.C. Das, Nepal Sweets, Ganguram Sweets, shined the most and made the weekend a perfect combination festive and sweet mood.
Each and every shop had their interesting “nolen gur-er mishti”, from Gur-er Soufle Sandesh at Dwarik’s Grandson to Kulfi Malai at Ganguram, from Gur Sandesh Soats and Gur-er Cake with Malai ghevar and Makha Sandesh at Sri Krishna Mistanna Bhandar, the flavour and taste of jaggery was oozing from the whole place.
‘Sri Krishna Mistanna Bhandar’ and Howrah’s ‘Batai Mistanna Bhandar’ participated in the festival for the first time and it tuned out to be quite satisfying for them as the shopkeepers were very pleased by the response of the visitors t the festival.
The best among all was Bhim Nag’s Brother Sreenath Nag‘s very innovative and tempting ‘gur-er cocktail’. It was a complete hit of the festival. The best part was each sweet had mouth smacking subtle sweetness which made people visit the festival in flocks. This festival with numerous sweet stalls together and serving with so much compassion is hard to find and that is why for the sweet lovers, this festival is like a paradise.
