Where devotional melodies meet live orchestration, Jaya Kishori’s Divine Concert brings a new rhythm to India’s timeless musical traditions. Following a successful Mumbai edition, the concert is now coming to Kolkata.
Bhajans have long been an integral part of India’s musical and spiritual heritage, carried through generations by traditional melodies, expressive vocals and the rhythmic accompaniment of instruments. From the resonant notes of the harmonium and tabla to the collective cadence of devotional singing, this music has always possessed a distinctive ability to bring people together.
With Divine Concert, Jaya Kishori brings this tradition to a contemporary live-performance format, blending the emotional depth of devotional compositions with the energy and scale of a concert. The concept has already been successfully experienced in Mumbai, and Kolkata is now set to host the next edition of this distinctive musical gathering.
Unlike a conventional devotional programme, the concert follows an all-bhajan format, featuring back-to-back performances, soulful vocal renditions and live musical arrangements. The interplay of melody, rhythm and voice creates an immersive soundscape in which the audience becomes part of the musical experience rather than simply a spectator.
Jaya Kishori’s Divine Concert brings devotional singing to the forefront, inviting audiences to participate in a collective experience of faith, devotion and spiritual connection.
The concert format also introduces devotional music to a generation accustomed to large-scale live performances, elaborate sound production and dynamic musical arrangements. Here, however, the central attraction is not spectacle alone, but the shared experience of singing, listening and connecting through bhajans. It brings together the intimacy of devotional music and the collective energy of a live concert.
For families, long-time devotees and younger listeners, the evening offers an opportunity to experience familiar spiritual compositions through a different musical setting. The convergence of vocals, instrumental accompaniment and audience participation creates an atmosphere where traditional devotional melodies meet contemporary concert culture.
Following its successful Mumbai edition, Divine Concert by Jaya Kishori is scheduled for Sunday, 25 October 2026, at Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata. The gates open at 5:30 PM, and the concert begins at 6:00 PM.
Tickets are available on District.
