Rotaract Club of Calcutta Spurs initiated their very first youth talent festival, Rota Elysium, A paradise of lost souls, on Saturday 30th Jan 2021 at 50 Shades Café and Restaurant, Park Street. The initiative was arranged by Team Nirvana. A lot of fresh and talented artists were seen participating in various genres.
President, Debotri Ghosh told us, this is the very first year of Rota Elysium. The event has raised a fund, with which they will establish Rota Libraries in rural areas, where people can get the opportunity for both working and learning.
The festival consisted of both offline and online events like Cypher (Rap Battle), Beatbox battle, Solo and Band Singing, Solo/Duo/Team Dancing, and Stand-Up Comedy. The online events had Short Filmmaking, Medley, Quiz, and Photography. In addition, there were special guest performances by Akash Dasgupta, Aritra Chakraborty, Mayukh Agarwal, Arpit Tripathi, and Dj Daz.
Rota Elysium made way for a great number of talented artists, some of them were ecstatic to be engaging in a fest like this. A participant of the Tip Tap Toe Dance contest, Sourav Saha acknowledged that he was very excited to be participating in the event after a long quarantine break.
The winner of the Beatbox battle, Romit Dutta, who has been a solo Indian Beatbox Champion added that he was battling after one year and was delighted to be here.
The upcoming movie Khancha was also screened later during this event. Upon being asked about what inspired him to make this film, the director, Dhruba Adhikary said it was the lockdown that inspired him, he wanted to give an insight into the inner worlds of people amidst this pandemic and the realization of how we put up an appearance only to make an impression to the outside world.
