Manushi Chhillar brings Miss World crown to India after 17 years

Sanya, China: Manushi Chhillar has won the Miss World beauty pageant for the year 2017. Priyanka Chopra brought home the coveted title in the year 2000, 17 years earlier.

20-year old Manushi, who originally belongs to Bamnoli village in Haryana’s Jhajjar district and is a third-year MBBS student at BPS Medical College for Women, Khanpur Kalan, in Sonepat, wants to be a cardiac surgeon.

Stephanie Hill, who is Miss England was the first runner up and Miss Mexico Andrea Meza was second runner up. Around 108 women from across the world participated in the beauty pageant.

Manushi’s family members said she is a good poet, painter and Kuchipudi dancer. She is working on her project on menstrual hygiene as well.
