Yamaha also wants a piece of ‘Adventure Pie,’ files name FZ-X for Trade Mark

-

The Indian market for motor vehicles is growing and evolving everyday. We are witnessing various new vehicles for dedicated and specific purpose, specifically for motor cycles. The entire scenario was different a decade ago, but now there is a bike that can appeal to any rider.

The Japanese manufacturer Yamaha Motor Company Ltd. is a brand which is not only well known in the world but also loved by the two wheeler community’s and enthusiast’s. Recently Yamaha has filed the name FZ-X for Trade Mark in India, the X in automobiles is associated with adventure. So we can expect it to be based on the current FZ-25’s engine, with some new things. Now if Yamaha decides to continue with their 249cc power plant, that produces 20.5bhp at 8000rpm and 20.1Nm of peak Torque at 6000rpm from the 5 speed transmission like it’s sibling FZ-25, we can expect same power figures.

What will be Yamaha’s biggest challenge?

Well some people might say it’s too late for Yamaha to launch an ADV, but that won’t be the scenario. India is a huge country, where everything tends to attract someone’s attention, in simple words still there is a huge scope. As ‘Adventure Motorcycles’ are new for India and we have only seen very few offerings and most of them are above 500cc. Today we have Hero Xpulse which is a 200cc ADV, and then KTM-250 Adventure has 248cc engine, and Royal Enfield Himalayan 441cc heart. Even there is TVS, which has also filed the name ‘Raider’ for an ADV variant. So FZ-X will be in the market with stiff competition for, but the risk is worth taking as the rewards are huge.
