Crossing Over, designed by interdisciplinary artist Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee is an ensemble of artistic performances and collaborations. The premise of the show is to usher in hope and healing through arts and by artists. The year gone by has left us scars, void, darkness, and of course learning.
The despair, gloom, and uncertainty that arts have plunged into are scary and we need to gradually crawl back into the light. CROSSING OVER opens on January 30th at ICCR, being presented by SPCkraft and MyCircle.com.
The evening features theatre legend Sohag Sen, iconic film personality and danseuse Mamata Shankar, vocalists Rupankar Bagchi, Monomoy Bhattacharya, Jayati Chakraborty, Neepabithi, classical dancer Arnab Bandyopadhyay, contemporary dancer-choreographer Sudarshan Chakraborty, actor Jayant Kripalani, activist Gulan Kripalani, and actress Sauraseni Maitra.
The visual art that would integrate with the acts has been designed by Uttaran Dey and ace musician Shibasish Banerjee shall collaborate with Sujoy for select spoken word acts. “It was important to bring back artists on the stage to settle scores with the new normal and keep up with the arts”, said Sujoy.
