Irrfan Khan, one of India’s most loved and respected actors passed away on the morning of 29th April, 2020 at a private hospital in Mumbai, where he was admitted for colon infection.
The 53-year-old actor had been a cancer survivor but ever in the fight against it; since 2018 and his official spokesperson had confirmed on Tuesday evening that he was under doctor’s observation. The actor is survived by his wife Sutapa and sons – Babil and Ayan.
As a man of few words and an actor of excellence with melancholic and penetrating eyes, the fact that he will be missed is a gross understatement! In 2018 he was diagnosed with cancer and in an open letter he admitted to having “trusted” and “surrendered” to it. Since then he took life head on and fought the many battles that came with it.
Irrfan Khan’s last film was ‘Angrezi Medium’, which hit the screens days before the lockdown was announced. Irrfan played a father in the film who would go to any lengths to see his daughter succeed in studies and in life; quite the zeal he had in his personal life.
Growing up in Delhi from humble beginnings, Irrfan made his way through television and later in films through sheer hard work and determination.
Irrfan made his presence felt in Hollywood with films like ‘The Namesake’, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, ‘Inferno’ and ‘Life of Pi’. In Indian films, he is perhaps best known for the sheer versatility of his roles – from ‘Piku’ to ‘Paan Singh Tomar’; from ‘Life in a Metro’ to ‘Maqbool’ and many others. On television during the 90’s he was very well known for his role in the hit serial – ‘Chandrakanta’.
As he left for his heavenly abode, leaving behind a rich legacy, we at IBTN9.com pray for his peace and extend our condolences to his family.
