The annual conference of Rotary International District 3291 was held on 12th and 13th of January 2019 at Swabhumi Kolkata. Attended by around 900 Rotarians from Rotary District 3291 and foreign delegates from Austria, Bangladesh and Norway, the conference was a real witness of Rotaries’ diversity and unity that binds the world together and makes the moto of “Service above self” a reality.
The Inaugural Session was attended by some of the honorable guests including his Excellency Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi, The Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal; RIPR PDG Ajay Kala ( RC Jaipur Round Town, RID 3054); PRID Shekhar Mehta; PDG Rajendra Khandelwal ,honoured with the ‘Service above Self’ award; PP Krishnendu Gupta received Areh Klumph Society recognition.
The two-day event witnessed an assembly of mind blowing and thought provoking speakers including RIPR PDG Ajay Kala and PRID Shekhar Mehta, Lt. General M.N Narvane AVSM, SM, VSM, GOC inC of Eastern Command & Shri Satya Mitra, Mr Paranjoy Guha Thakurta and Swami Vimalatmanandaji Maharaj, Dr. Purabi Roy and Ms Kamalika Bose, Panel Discussion between President D Ravishankar, President, Rotary Club of Bangalore Orchards, D 3190 in conversation with DGN Subhashish Chatterjee of Rotary District 3240, DGN Sudip Mukherjee , District 3291 and PP Krishnendu Gupta, AKS, address by Mr. P.S.Bhattacharya, Mr.Rana Shome, Mr. Tanmoy Chakraborty, Keynote speaker Mr. Bibek Deb Roy, Mr. Rakesh Jain and Dr. Jayanta Chakravarty. The Rotary Ratna Award was presented to Debshankar Haldar.
As Rotary plans to celebrate it’s centenary year in India during 2019-20 the dates for 2020’s District Conference were announced before closing of the two days events.
