Procam leads the way in philanthropy through distance running

-

Kolkata: Since 2004 Procam International, the biggest platform for charity fundraising through distance running events in the country has successfully  promoted the idea- “Your sweat can change the world” to make India’s identity prominent as a country that embraces philanthropy through sports.

They have been very vocal and active about how a couple of hours from your busy schedule, a morning from your life, especially your sweat on the race tracks can make someone’s life better and have given people the chance to give something back to the society.

Procam has raised a whopping Rs 319 crore for charity since 2004 while conducting five distance running events across the nation, is confident that Kolkata will stand up and be counted as one of the most generous contributors to the cause.

It is with this aim that Procam has conducted a workshop ‘Runners for a Cause’ this weekend under the aegies of India Cares Foundation.

Seva Kendra Calcutta along with India Cares Foundation has conducted a workshop for runners and runners’ group in Kolkata ahead of Tata Steel Kolkata 25K on 3 November at Seva Kendra Calcutta named Runners for a Cause, Training Meet.

Dilip Jayaram- Procam Chief Executive Officer, Kevin Pereira- vice president, Rev.  Dr. Franklin Menezes- Executive Director/ Secretary and Meena Dave- CEO India Cares were present at the camp to make the runners understand the importance of running to make someone else’s life better and encourage them to commit for the cause through participating in TSK 25K.

The workshop has been conducted in order to understand fundraising at the back of TSK25K and encourage them to do so and spread awareness for various causes i.e Education, Skills Development, Disability, Women Empowerment, Health, Women & Children, Environmental Conservation and Community Development.

Procam also trains and educates other NGOs on how to raise funds including the proper official paperworks processes to help them run a transparent service.

What Procam have managed to achieve for past 15 years through the distance running events have not only put those four events as the largest sporting philanthropy platforms of the country but also put India as one of the most sports enthusiastic country on the global map.

Kolkata has responded to the call rapidly and contributed with overwhelming enthusiasm, response to make TSK 25K a success.

By raising over 2.33 Crores in last 4 years TSK 25K has already been awarded ‘Bronze Label’ by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and featured international athletes like Boris Becker,  Mike Powell, Kenenisa Bekele over the years.

By successfuly organizing the Tata Mumbai Marathon, the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon, the Tata Consultancy Services World 10K, Bengaluru and the Tata Steel Kolkata 25K Procam raised over 319 Crores for charity.

This year the TSK 25K salutes the martyrs of the nation and encourages the city to run together to celebrate Vijay Divas on December 16.
