Kolkata: Eastern India’s largest film production house SVF and eminent film director Srijit Mukherjee‘s Matchcut Productions Pvt. Ltd. announced plans of a joint venture to co-produce 3 Bengali films and a web series in the coming years.
Although the initial plan is to make 3 films and 1 web series, the number is most likely to inflate in the future depending on the market response.

SVF co-founder and director, Shrikant Mohta said, Tollywood has no dearth of talent and Srijit is one of the finest we have. Already a National Award winning director, Srijit also has immense potential as a producer. We at SVF want to be a part of not only his personal growth but also give the platform to him to find fresh talent and tell more exciting stories.”
Mr. Mukherjee also announced his upcoming venture, an untitled film based on writer Shankar‘s famed novel “Chowringhee” which will cast some of the biggest names of the Bengali film industry- Prosenjit Chatterjee, Abir Chatterjee, Jisshu Sengupta, Jaya Ehsan and Mamata Shankar. He said,”My version of Chowringhee will be based on 2018 and since this has already been done before where the legend Uttam Kumar played the main protagonist, it is a challenge for my team and me.”
In an exclusive interview with IBTN9, actor Prosenjit Chatterjee said,”Every role is challenging for me. Playing Uttam Kumar’s role in Srijit’s version of Chowringhee will give a lot of expectations to the people and I hope I will live up to their expectations.”
