Edgar Wright’s horror-thriller “Last Night in Soho” released an astonishing trailer, is all set for release on Oct. 22.
The London-based psychological thriller stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Thomasin McKenzie, and Matt Smith. Wright directed “Last Night in Soho” from a script he co-wrote with writer Krysty Wilson-Cairns.
The mind-fucking flick will have the twists and turns that show up when innocent, upcoming fashionista Eloise (McKenzie) is able to reach back in time and meet her idol, a dazzling singer named Sandy (Taylor-Joy), in the 1960s.
The film will include a time-travel element, which Wright mentioned to in a tweet: “Haunted by someone else’s past, but we’ll see you in the future.”
The film project is produced by Nira Park, Working Title’s Tim Bevan, and Eric Fellner and Wright. Focus Features and Film4 co-produced the film. Universal Pictures International has attained distribution rights and will release the movie internationally.
In an interview, Wright talked about how he previously thought of Taylor-Joy for the role of Eloise but changed his mind after seeing her embody a similar character — “an innocent girl who gets thrown into a situation” — in “Split.” As for McKenzie, the director said, “She’s great [in ‘Last Night In Soho.’] She’s so young and fragile that the film is going to be twice as scary.”
