Bollywood editor Ajay Sharma who passes away

Bollywood film editor Ajay Sharma passed away due to Covid-19 on Tuesday night. He was in his late 30s. Sharma’s family sources reported.

“He took his last breath at Rajeev Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital, New Delhi at night. He had been in ICU for the past two weeks,” the source confirmed.

He had been working in the Bollywood film industry for almost a decade now. As soon as the news of his demise came in, several Bollywood stars expressed gratitude along with heartfelt tweets to the young editor, on social media. Here are some of them :

Director Anurag Basu, who had worked with Ajay on movies like ‘Life in a Metro’, ‘Jagga Jasoos’ and ‘Ludo’, took to Twitter to mourn his demise and bid him a last goodbye. “This is still difficult to accept. I barely have the courage to write this. Ajay independently edited Jagga Jasoos, Ludo but he was associated with me since ‘Life in a Metro’, ‘Barfii’, ‘Kites’. He was my core team, my creative soundboard, my friend. So many dreams and plans were ahead waiting for him. Making films will not be the same anymore. Goodbye my friend,” said the director’s tweet. Screenwriter Aniruddha Guha, expressing his grief, wrote on Twitter, “So many rallied together to try and save you. I’m sorry we couldn’t do more. RIP Ajay Sharma. You will live on through your work.”

Ajay Sharma has worked as an editor of films for films like ‘Ludo’, ‘Jagga Jasoos’, ‘Karwaan’, ‘Indoor Ki Jawani’, ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2’, ‘Tum Mile. His works as an editor on the digital platform have been with web shows like ‘Bandish Bandits’, ‘Rasbhari’ and ‘The Great Indian Dysfunctional Family. Others like filmmaker Nikkhil Advani, and film editor TS Suresh and Disney UTV’s Creative Director also remembered Ajay Sharma via their Twitter handles.

Ajay Sharma has also worked as an assistant editor for Barfi, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Agneepath, Kai Po Che, Life in A Metro, The Dirty Picture, Sachin – A Billion Dreams, Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, I Hate Luv Storys, Woh lamhe and more.
