The 63rd Grammy Awards is all set to be held on 15th March 2021 at the STAPLES Center, Los Angeles, presented by The Recording Academy. The Recording Academy and CBS have committed to making it a big night because since the pandemic award shows have failed to make a mark as they did before. According to The Recording Academy, this year’s Grammy will have a mix of taped live performances.
The ceremony will feature performances by Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, BTS, Harry Styles, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Bad Bunny, Doja Cat, Maren Morris, Roddy Ricch, Post Malone, Lil Baby, and DaBaby. According to reports, Harry Styles is all set to open the ceremony with his performance, the singer has three nominations including ‘The Best Pop Vocal Album’, ‘Best Pop Solo Performance’, and ‘Best Music Video’.
The ‘Black Pumas’, a little-known soul band has three nominations this year. Micky Guyton is the first black female artist who is nominated for the best country solo performance. Beyonce has nine nominations in eight categories, the highest among all while Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa have six nominations each.
The 30 categories this year include the General Field, Pop, Dance/ Electronic Music, Contemporary Instrumental Music, Rock, Alternative, R&B, Rap, Country, New Age, Jazz, Gospel/ Contemporary Christian Music, Latin, American Roots Music, Reggae, Global Music, Children’s, Spoken Word, Comedy, Musical Theater, Music For Visual Media, Composing/ Arranging, Package, Notes, Historical, Production, Non-Classical, Production, Immersive Audio, Production Classical, Classical, Music Video/Film categories.
It will be interesting to keep an eye out for who makes it big in the first-ever virtual version of the event. The award show will be telecasted on the CBS channel and also streaming live on Facebook, as well as on the Grammy official website.
