Japan has found a new variant of coronavirus similar to the UK strain

A new coronavirus variant similar to the UK strain has been found in Japan. Japan’s National Institute of Infectious Disease said authorities have found the new strain in four passengers arriving from Brazil.

The new variant has similarities to the strain that was discovered last year in UK, the NIID said on a statement on Sunday. The information about the new variant is still not available in data, and it is difficult to immediately conclude how infectious how infectious this new strain is and the effectiveness of the current vaccines against it, said by NIID.

In a separate statement, Japan’s Ministry of Health said the four passengers, who arrived at the Haneda airport in Japan from Brazil on January 2, were later diagnosed with a variant of the virus. One of the male in his 40s, who was asymptomatic on his arrival was later shifted to the hospital due to worsening of his respiratory system.

World Health Organization has been informed about the new strain by NIID, reported by the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper. Investigation has already started about the severity of the new virus by the institute.

With Vaccination against coronavirus, starting globally new strain of the virus has been reported in many countries. UK was the first country who reported a new strain of the coronavirus, which is 70% contagious. This new strain of the virus which is being reported in various countries is still unknown in terms of data and whether the first vaccines will work against it or not.
