We the Bengali’s have always been a great sweet craver from time immemorial. Sweets, especially the ‘Kora Pak Sandesh’, Nolen Gurer Misti, Rosogolla, Doi, all these traditional sweets are and will always be in our veins. In the past few years, the emergence of innovation in sweets has hovered a cloud of creativity in the misti industry. Keeping their fingers crossed the sweet vendors launched their creative sweets starting from chocolate misti to mihi dana tart, baked rosogolla, flavored rosogolla, aamdoi, bhapa doi, ice cream & fruit-flavored Sandesh, and many more creative named Sandesh.
The way each and every industry is upgrading in the individual genres, the misti industry is not at all left behind. Creative sweets are now all over in the sweet shops of Kolkata and also beyond it. Different festival of sweets takes place nowadays and the response from both seller and buyer is fantastic. The business has evolved very well. But when there are happy customers, there are unhappy customers too, few orthodox people are there who did not love the chocolate mishit concept.
They said Cadbury and mishiti cannot go together well and few like Nakur follow the traditional mishit format. Like the remix in music is loved by most and few don’t like it, fusion in Rabindrasangeet too had got a positive and negative reaction, innovative sweets will also get a similar type of mixed reactions. Most of the sweet shops have gone for innovation and they are pretty much going well with it. Few are:-
- Balaram Mullick & Radharaman Mullick
- Ganguram
- Nalin Chandra Das & Sons
- Banchharam’s
- Annapurna Sweets
- VIP Sweets
Many more there who are going with the trend in the recent past with both negative and positive vibe. Most from our generation drool at innovation and looks for variety in everything in their consumption. Change is the new constant and people like to live with change.
