-

Rob Gibbs passed away at age of 55, on 30th April 2020, with back to back deaths of the two eminent actors, yet we lost another gem storyteller in the entertainment industry. The reason of his death is still unknown, he is survived by his daughter Mary. Many former colleagues and friends tweeted condolence over his sudden demise.

A story artist, writer and director who has given more than twenty years to Pixar and enormously contributed to the world of animation movies, the characters which he created left a wonderful impact over the audience. Being a child Rob Gibbs was highly inspired from the Looney Tunes and Popeye the Sailor Man, his curiosity over cartoons and animation compelled him to move forward to become a visual artist. Gibbs born in Escondido California, he learned animation from California college of arts later he spends five years working as a story & visual development artist at Walt Disney Feature Animation working on Pocahontas (1995), The Brave Little Toaster to The Rescue (1998) and Fantasia 2000 (1999).

Some of the best known works of him are: Wall-e, Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc., UP, Inside Out and Finding Nemo; apart from the mainstream projects he has directed the popular short film the Tokoy Mater (2008) and the TV series Mater Tall Tales, & Radiator Springs from 2012 cars franchise –‘Brave’. He once said in an interview that his interest developed in short films after attending the Spike’s and Mike’s Animation Film Festival in La Jolla In California.

His up-coming projects were the monsters at work where he was co directing the projects under Disney+ and also working for an animation film HUMP. MovieBrats Pictures paid tribute by writing a long Facebook Post where his fellow directors were deeply shocked over his death, he had been a wonderful human being always in a good mood and never short of a joke that made it a joy to work with him over the past few years, said one of his colleagues.

His absence will be felt all over the entertainment industry and the characters he created will remind us about his excellence.
