The SUV segment in India is currently the hottest segment for cars. As 2021 is witnessing a lot of new launches and comebacks of multiple cars as well as many new entries in the super-competitive segment. India has always loved SUV’s but very few can afford them two decades prior, however, they were respected.
While the indigenous Tata Sumo was the first SUV in the country in 1994, and for decades there was no vehicle that could challenge Sumo. But the first challenge came from Mahindra in the form of Mahindra Scorpio back in 2002, soon after the launch of Scorpio it became very popular among people and the vehicle gained some fans too. But the popularity of Mahindra SUVs has only increased with time. The primary reason for this was Scorpio’s torquey engine and a fresh new design.
However, Mahindra and Mahindra had different plans, as they had a new SUV which is XUV-500. As soon as the vehicle was launched people seemed to be interested in the car, but actually, people were thrilled. As luxury SUV in India is very expensive, and they are not very practical, whereas XUV-500 was not only a new design but turned out to be a very practical choice of vehicle.
Now after a decade of its launch, the automobile manufacturer has now decided to give the car some updates. As the car was in process of receiving a new engine or updates in the engine due to the transition from BS-IV to BS-VI. However according to experts and spied images the car will receive multiple updates and new design language. The updates might include a panoramic sunroof and minor voice command input functions.
So far the only confirmation for the launch date is expected in July and the price for the base model is expected to be around ₹14.0L (ex-showroom). Till now Mahindra has confirmed the availability of a new XUV-500 with two engine options, 2.0L petrol, and 2.2L diesel mated with either manual transmission or automatic transmission.
