Upcoming Bollwood films to look out for

With the advent of the lockdown, the theatres have almost been on the verge of shutdown. But even after the government announced 100% occupancy, the theatres are yet to get back their full occupancy. With some major big Bollywood releases lined up in the upcoming months, it is being hoped that the theatres will get back their occupancy.

Sandeep Aur Pinky Farrar: ‘Sandeep and Pinky Faraar’, is a black comedy thriller directed by Dibakar Banerjee starring Arjun Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Neena Gupta, and Jaideep Ahlawat. The film was set to release in 2020 but the pandemic postponed it. The makers released the trailers some days back and they are quite intriguing. The film is all set to release in theatres on 19th March.

Brahmastra: ‘Brahmastra’, is an action fantasy adventure movie directed by Ayan Mukherjee that has a huge star cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt. This film will be Ayan Mukherjee’s third collaboration with Ranbir Kapoor. The film is apparently the first part of a trilogy that is being planned and set to release in languages, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. The film will also release in all formats, standard, IMAX, and 3D.

Sooryavanshi: ‘Sooryavanshi’, is Rohit Shetty’s third film of his own cop universe after ‘Singham’ and ‘Simmba’. The film stars Akshay Kumar in a lead role with co-star Katrina Kaif. Ajay Devgan and Ranveer Singh will have cameos as Singham and Simmba respectively. Apparently, the makers are planning a simultaneous digital and theater release for the film. The film is slated to release on 30th April 2021.

83: ‘83’ is a sports drama directed by Kabir Khan starring Ranveer Singh who plays Kapil Dev. The movie portrays team India’s journey to win the World Cup ’83. The film also stars Deepika Padukone who plays Kapil Dev’s wife. The film was initially supposed to release in the first quarter of 2021 but makers have now postponed it to 4th June 2021.

Radhe: ‘Radhe’ is an upcoming action film starring Salman Khan. The film is directed by Prabhudeva and a remake of the South Korean film ‘Veteran’. The movie is expected to bring back 100% occupancy in theatres since the lockdown. The film also stars Disha Patani and Randeep Hooda and is scheduled to release on 13th May 2021.

Saina: Saina is a biographical sports drama that is based on the life of badminton player Saina Nehwal. The film stars Parineeti Chopra who plays the lead role. When the makers released the poster a few days back, it was criticized for the wrong portrayal of the game’s serving technique. The film makes an official release on 26th March 2021.

Gangubai kathiwadi : ‘Gangubai Kathiwadi’ is a biographical crime film starring Alia Bhatt as ‘Gangubai’ and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film is based on a chapter of Hussian Zaidi’s book, ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’ which shows Gangubai’s rise to power from the rags. The film is slated to release in theatres on 30th July 2021.
