Dhanush-Karthik Subbaraj’s ‘Jagame Thandhiram’ had its teaser released this Monday and it will leave you the essence of a dark comedy.
From the teaser, Dhanush plays an Indian gangster, Surali, who goes by his own quirky ways. For the villagers, Surali is the apple of everyone’s eyes and has got quite the moves when it comes to the dance floor. He can make bombs at ease and blood and gory, of course, has found an interest in him.
The director, Kartik Subbaraj talking about his film and its release on Netflix said, “Jagame Thandhiram is my dream film. A script that’s very close to my heart. A story that needs to be told, and heard by audiences across the world. This film has found a new way to speak to its audience. Jagame Thandhiram will be premiered by Netflix worldwide in over 190 countries, and in multiple languages, simultaneously. I am eagerly looking forward to sharing this film about a ‘Tricky World’ (Jagame Thandiram).”
Some sequences of the film are believed to be shot in London. Dhanush had wanted the movie to have a theatrical release, as his fans had requested, but the makers have locked horns on an OTT release. Sashikanth, the producer of the movie says, “YNOT Studios, as a brand, has always been identified with backing bold and path-breaking ideas fearlessly, and this decision emphasizes further that the ideology is not just limited to content, but also extends across all our strategies and initiatives. We are extremely excited to be partnering with the streaming service, Netflix, which will champion the film and provide a global reach to this Tamil story.”
‘Jagame Thandhiram’, which stars Dhanush in a lead role also casts, ‘Game of Thrones’ fame, Hames Cosmo, Aiswarya Lekshmi, Kalaiyarasan, and Joju George. The film is yet to get a release date.
