In 2013, a boy with glimmering eyes and a heart-melting smile made his debut in Bollywood, as Ishaan Bhatt in Abhishek Kapoor’s directorial, ‘Kai Po Che’. Sushant Singh Rajput had made a mark since then, be it with his charismatic looks or his acting prowess.
Right after his debut, his second big Bollywood break came in the form of Maneesh Sharma’s directorial, ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’, under the Yash Raj banner.
Sushant Singh Rajput did a small role in Rajkumar Hirani’s, ‘PK’ and was then cast as Byomkesh Bakshi in Dibakar Banerjee’s, ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshi’. However, the film got positive reviews from critics but failed at the box office.
Sushant Singh Rajput’s breakthrough came with ‘M.S Dhoni: The untold story’, where he played the role of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The movie became one of the biggest releases of Bollywood, as well as a critical and commercial success, while Singh was praised by everybody for his performance, it gained him a much greater recognition as an actor and also the best actor award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.
Sushant Singh did a few films after that like, ‘Raabta’, ‘Kedarnath’ and ‘Sonchiriya’ among which ‘Sonchiriya’ was critically acclaimed for Singh’s performance as well as the story.
‘Chicchhore’, Singh’s next film which was a coming-of-age film about the youths and the pressure they are put through, to not end up being a failure. ‘Chicchhore’ opened to positive reviews from the critics and audiences, it was praised for its direction, social message, and honest portrayal of the pressure, students face, every day.
‘Dil Bechara’, the Bollywood remake of ‘The Fault in our Stars’ was Singh’s last film before he shocked the whole nation, with the news of his death, on the morning of 14th June 2020. Sushant Singh Rajput will remain immortal in our hearts with his art and every character he brought to life on-screen.
