The Grammys got postponed until March 14, 2021 due to the increase in the numbers of coronavirus cases. A new strain of the virus, first discovered in UK has already ben discovered in many countries like USA, Italy, India etc. Due to that The Recording Academy decided to postpone Grammy 2021 and broadcast on Sunday March 14, 2021.
In a joint statement from Harvey Mason Jr., Chair & Interim President/CEO of the Recording Academy; Jack Sussman, Executive Vice President, Specials, Music, Live Events and Alternative Programming, CBS; and Ben Winston, Grammy Awards Executive Producer, Fulwell 73 Productions, they said, “After thoughtful conversations with health experts, our host and artists scheduled to appear, we are rescheduling the 63rd annual GRAMMY Awards® to be broadcast Sunday March 14, 2021. The deteriorating covid-19 situation in Los Angeles, with hospital services getting overwhelmed, ICUs having reached capacity, and new guidance from state and local governments have all led us to conclude that postponing our show was the right thing to do. Nothing is more important than the health and safety of those in our music community and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly on producing the show.”
Just like all the events being organized without any in person attendance, The GRAMMY AWARD was also supposed to be organized in the same manner. Now if the situation favors the Recoding Academy, the The 63rd GRAMMY may be organized with in person attendance. Till then lets wait for this prestigious award show of the music industry.
