Bollywood with time has come up with films that infuse patriotism in its audiences leaving them in goosebumps. Films like Lagaan, Rang De Basanti, The Legend of Bhagat Singh have been some of the best patriotic films. So here are 5 recent patriotic films you can watch this Republic day :
Ghazi: The film is based on true events, on the mysterious sinking of PNS Ghazi, during the Indo-Pakistan war in 1971. It shows how the Indian Navy and his team stayed in the submarine underwater for 18 days, destroying the Pakistani PNS Ghazi which ventured into the Indian waters to destroy INS Vikrant. A replica of the Indian PNS Ghazi still stands at the INS Kursura submarine museum in Vishakapatnam.
Raazi: Raazi is a spy-thriller directed by Meghna Gulzar. The film is an adaption of Harinder Sikka’s 2008 novel, Callingsehmat. The edge-of-the-seat thriller portrays true events of an Indian Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) agent, who risked upon her life and love and married into a family of military officials in Pakistan, to keep her father’s promise. This film was one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films. The film won many Filmfare awards, including best actor, best director, and best film.
Kesari: Kesari follows the events leading to the Battle of Saragarhi, a battle between 21 soldiers of the 36th Sikhs of the British Indian Army and 10,000Afridi and Orakzai Pashtun tribesmen in 1897. The film, which stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role, is a brave and inspirational account of the courage and patriotism that the Indian soldiers showed at the battlefield, the dramatic battle sequences that might leave the audiences in goosebumps act as a perfect USP.
Uri – The Surgical Strike: The film is a dramatized account of the retaliation and the brave surgical strike of the Indian army. Major Vihaan Singh Shergill leads a covert operation against a group of militants, who attacked a base in Uri, Kashmir in 2015. Uri was helmed as one of the best war movies in the country, made for the urban audiences.
Gold: Akshay Kumar rarely misses it when it comes to films on patriotism. Gold is about the dream of Tapan Das (Akshay Kumar), to win a medal for the free and independent India. It’s based on the journey of India’s first National Hockey team at the 1948 Summer Olympics, led by Tapan Das, who won India their first gold medal in the 1948 Summer Olympics. It was Bollywood’s first film to release in Saudi Arabia.
