More than 60 schools participated in musiCEA Inter School Music Competitions 2018 in association with Academy for Musical Excellence at Gyan Manch, recently. Total numvers of participants was around 1000. The individual disciplines for this year were Piano, Keyboard, Guitar, Drums, Bollywood Vocals, Indian Traditional Vocals, English Vocals. Group performances were School Bands and Choirs. There were two categories Junior from six to twelve years and Senior from twelve plus to eighteen.
Some of the participating schools were La Martiniere for Boys and Girls, Loreto House, Loreto Dharamtalla, Calcutta International School, Assembly of God Church, LaksmipathSinghania Academy, Don Bosco, Saltlake School, DPS Mega City and New Town, GD Birla. Schools like BelghariaJatinDasVidhyapith, Kamala Girls, Maheswari School, Army Public School Barrackpore, HM Education, Aditya Academy Dum Dum and Barasat are also participating along side the more renowned schools.
It was Abahon Adak, a special child who performed Annie’s Song on keyboard. He is a student of Surendranath Majumdar at Academy for Musical Excellence, Kasba.
3-6 years old students of Kodaly Society of India presented specially created rhymes and songs demonstrating various musical elements.Calcutta International School choir presented two songs. The Consul General of Japan, Mr. Masayuki Taga launched Music Theory Foundation book which is digitally available to everyone free of cost now. This is an initiative to reach out with affordable structured music education to every one every where.
The evening was ended with the Grand Prize distribution ceremony.
