Celebrated singer Rupali Jagga recently recorded the title track for Esha Deol’s comeback film Cakewalk. The music has been composed by Shailendra Sayanti, and lyrics written by Saniddya Sawarna.
“I am extremely happy to be a part of this prstigious project,” says Rupali Jagga, who recorded the track in one take. Rupali created her impact as finalist in popular realty show Sa Re Ga Ma. Recently she signed Amazon Prime’s reality show The Remix Show.
The short feature film produced under the banner of Assorted Motion Pictures and SS1 Entertainments, has been written by Ram Kamal Mukherjee, who will be also directing the film with Kolkata based director Abhra Chakraborty. “I have heard a lot about Ram Kamalji, and I have read his books and columns. I loved the teaser poster which Esha Deol released on her social media platform,” added Rupali. The song was recorded at Trinity Studios in Mumbai.
Music director Shailendra created this special track which will be an integral part of the narrative. “Ram Kamal and Abhra was very certain about what they wanted. They came up with various references composed by great masters. I have retained the feel of jazz, with a bit of Indian ‘harkat’ which gives that extra edge,” says Shailendra. Rupali also feels that ‘Life Is Never A Cakewalk‘ track will be popular amongst all sections of music lovers. “The simplicity of the song will make it popular. I am sure once it’s picturized on Esha, it will have a much bigger impact,” added Rupali. The male version of the track has been rendered by Shailendra, and both the tracks produced by Dinesh Gupta, Shailendra Kumar and Aritra Das the film also stars Tarun Malhotra and Anindita Bose. The shooting of the film started in Mumbai on the occasion of Gudi Padwa, and now Esha is gearing up for the Kolkata schedule.
