Kolkata: The city of joy witnessed an extravagant evening inside an auditorium in Kolkata. Centrestage presented the Cricket Club of Dhakuria‘s annual social Soumitra and Aparna- A Retrospective at Kala Mandir recently. As the name suggests, the event hosted the two legendary personalities who need no introduction Soumitra Chatterjee and Aparna Sen, who teamed up in 23 films together. They were engaged in discussion by Anindya Chatterjee, an acclaimed singer-writer-film director in his own right. Soumitra and Aparna- A Retrospective was a live talk show; a rare event being organized in this city.
The discussion was ranged from their early years to their first foray into films. The legends discussed Films, Theatre, Literature, Directors, Writers, Music Directors and indeed many other facets, institutions and individuals to reflect upon the rich history and tradition that theyhave been associated with over the years.
The set was decorated as a replica of an informal studio environment which was enriched by the screening of relevant film clips and songs which were sung live by Aritra and Dipanwita. The minimal acoustic musical arrangement was made by Rocket Mondal.
As the discussion proceeded, the audience witnessed questions in the form of video clips being asked by eminent personalities from the Bengali film industry. The footfall and engagement of the audience marked the success of the event. An evergreen song sung by the host and the audience together marked the end of such a beautiful and heart touching evening.
