Riddhi – a Step for Music celebrated the glorious journey of veteran legendary actress from Bengal Madhabi Mukhopadhyay at Nandan-Three recently. The venture has been titled JOURNEY which tells everything about the format of the programme. Veteran all-rounder researcher Devajit Bandyopadhyay had an interesting conversation with the legendary actress on the day. Interestingly audience also had an opportunity to ask some questions to the veteran actress. Riddhi said, “I have planned this venture in several parts in future with more legendary celebrities from various fields. I don’t wish to confine myself within the music scene just as a singer. Beside that I wish to initiate some archival projects like this.”
Madhabi Mukhopadhyay started her career with Shishir Kumar Bhaduri, Angoorbala,Prabha Devi, Debnarayan Gupta. It was Mrinal Sen who managed to change her name from Madhuri to Madhabi. She was there in conversation with Devajit Bandyopadhyay to share many untold stories of her glorious journey. Not limited to films, but also in the field of theatre, her personal life many aspects were revealed during the conversation.
She discussed about her co-stars like Chhabi Biswas, Chhaya Devi, Uttam Kumar and how Kishore Kumar made her sing “Ami Chini Go Chini Tomare” the Tagore song having no proper rehearsal on a live concert; besides she sang a few songs like ‘Ke Pratham Kachhe Esechhi’, ‘Chanchal Mon Anmona Hoy’, ‘Ami Chini Go Chini’ and so on.
