Las Vegas – On the last night music concert near the Mandalay Bay casino, a gunman from a high floor hotel in Vegas started firing over the crowd when singer Jason Aldean was performing at the Route 91 Harvest Festival. At least 59 people were killed and hundreds injured in the mass shooting.
Online videos of the attack showed the concert was interrupted by sounds of sudden gunfiring targetting the crowd; terrifying people who started running. The police identified the gunman as Stephen Paddock, 64, found dead in his hotel room. The Islamic State claimed that Mr. Paddock was one of its soilders, but did not provide any further evidence of its claim. The F.B.I. said there was no evidence so far that Mr. Paddock had ties to any international terrorist organization.
President Trump condemned the shooting as an “act of pure evil” and called for the country to come together, saying, “Our unity cannot be shattered by evil, our bonds cannot be broken by violence.“
