Three Veterans from the Bengal Film Industry Awarded At The 2nd Bengal International Short Film Festival

Kolkata, 5th June: Three veterans of Tollywood industry Ranjit Mallick, Mr. Tarun Majumdar and R.D. Bansal & Co were felicitated with various awards at the inauguration programme of the second Bengal International Short Film Festival (BISFF) organised by Bengal Film & Television Chamber of Commerce (BFTCC).

bftcc_2At the ceremony emceed by Ms. Ritabhari Chakraborty, the Hiralal Sen Award was conferred upon Ranjit Mallick by Bratya Basu & Gargi Roy Chowdhury, B.N Sarkar Award to R.D. Bansal & Co by Sandip Roy & Nandini Sarkar and Devaki Basu Award to Mr. Tarun Majumdar by Rituparna Sengupta & Subhaprasanna.

This year, the 2nd BISFF has received altogether 143 valid film entries from India, Bangladesh, U.K., U.S.A, France, Italy, New Zealand and Kenya out of which, 111 are Indian and 32 are foreign films, which also includes entries from Film Division and form  students of Film & Television Institute of India (FTII) apart of films from National and International Award Winners. Speaking about diversity of languages, the 2nd BISFF has received in Silent, Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Manipuri, English, French, Italian, Irish, etc. languages. Some of the noted films Submitted in 2nd BISFF have already won awards at different International Film Festivals of Ireland, Canada, New York, China, Bangladesh and India.

BFTCC is a collective representative of Entertainment Industry including Film and Television and is registered under section 8 of the Companies Act 2013 as Non-profit making service organization. In order to give the short film makers and documentary film makers the due respect that they deserve the Bengal International Short Film Festival (BISFF) came into existence, under the able management of BFTCC and a history was created.

The surplus of the proceeds from the event shall be channelized for the overall growth and betterment of the film industry as whole. It will also be utilized in funding beneficial projects for children living with HIV / AIDS.
